Wool rug FAQs

Are wool rugs durable?

If maintained properly, woollen rugs are very durable and are a brilliant investment for any household to make. A well-woven wool rug made with quality materials can last from 30 – 50 years (though this is not guaranteed and depends on several factors).

Are wool rugs better than polypropylene?

Wool and polypropylene rugs both have unique qualites that make them more suitable for different households with different needs, but neither material is ‘better’ than the other.

A wool rug is durable, whilst remaining soft, comfortable, and adding a layer of insulation to your floor (especially important for our long, British winters). As they are crafted using natural materials, they also make more sense for anyone who is environmentally minded. However, they do require quite a bit of maintenance to keep them looking good as new, especially if they are in high foot- traffic areas.

Polypropylene rugs, on the other hand, are a more affordable solution that can be cleaned more frequently without fading quickly. They tend to be a better option for busier households, especially those with pets.
